About Us
Duty Care Services is a registered NDIS provider delivering individualised disability supports across Melbourne. We are seeking a qualified and passionate Early Childhood Teacher or Educator to provide evidence-based early-childhood intervention services to young NDIS participants.
The successful applicant will initially support a five-year-old participant, with opportunities to support additional children as our early-childhood services grow.
About the Role
You will work closely with children and their families to develop practical skills, improve independence and support participation in everyday activities.
Services will primarily be delivered in the child’s home, community and other appropriate settings.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing the child’s developmental needs, strengths and support requirements.
- Developing individualised, goal-focused early-childhood intervention plans.
- Delivering structured activities targeting communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and everyday living skills.
- Supporting learning and development through age-appropriate play, routines and community participation.
- Coaching parents and carers to implement practical strategies within the child’s daily routine.
- Supporting transitions, independence and engagement with other children.
- Collaborating with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, support coordinators and other relevant professionals.
- Maintaining accurate session notes, progress reports, risk assessments and intervention records.
- Regularly reviewing progress against the participant’s NDIS goals.
- Providing culturally responsive, family-centred support.
- Complying with NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct and child-safety requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Teaching, Special Education or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Qualification must be approved or recognised by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority, where required for registration as an Early Childhood Teacher.
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration as an Early Childhood Teacher, either full or provisional, with current practising status.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check for paid employment, or evidence of a valid exemption through current VIT registration and compliance with any applicable teacher-notification requirements.
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You.
- Demonstrated experience supporting young children with developmental delay, disability, autism or additional support needs.
- Knowledge of evidence-based early-childhood intervention and family-centred practice.
- Ability to develop intervention plans, maintain professional records and prepare progress reports.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Current first aid and CPR certification.
- Asthma and anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain relevant training before commencing.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable, appropriately insured vehicle.
- Full Australian working rights.
Additional Requirements for Subcontractors
Applicants seeking subcontractor arrangements must also have:
- An active Australian Business Number.
- Appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
- Capacity to provide compliant invoices and maintain required professional documentation.
