BDO’s Strategy & Transformation team works with clients to address complex strategic and operational challenges, helping organisations define their direction, improve performance and deliver meaningful transformation.
Our team partners with clients across both government and private sectors to support strategy development, operating model design, business case development, portfolio prioritisation, transformation delivery and performance improvement. We bring together strategic thinking, commercial insights and practical delivery experience to help clients move from strategy through to implementation and benefits realisation.
As part of a growing Sydney-based team, you will work with clients who are navigating complexity, change and transformation, supporting them to make informed decisions, align stakeholders and deliver measurable outcomes.
About You
This is a senior client-facing role responsible for overseeing complex, multi-service line engagements across government and private sector organisations.
The successful candidate will bring deep, top tier consulting capability, strategic thinking and leadership experience to help clients define strategic priorities, improve organisational performance and deliver transformational outcomes.
The Director will play a key role in the further growth and development of BDO's Strategy & Transformation practice leading business development, building our brand- in-market, delivering complex engagements, providing strategic advice to clients and developing team capability.
The key parts of this role are:
Client Delivery and Advisory
Lead and oversee complex strategy and transformation engagements across public and private sector clients.
Partner with senior client stakeholders to understand and address organisational priorities, challenges and opportunities.
Provide trusted advice that supports strategic decision-making and long-term value creation.
Ensure high-quality project outcomes through disciplined delivery, strong governance and exceptional client service.
Facilitate executive workshops and stakeholder discussions to support alignment and decision-making.
Strategy and Transformation
Lead the development of strategies, business cases and transformation roadmaps that support client objectives.
Support clients to define strategic priorities and translate them into practical, actionable plans.
Oversee portfolio prioritisation, operating model design and business performance improvement initiatives.
Help clients identify opportunities to improve organisational effectiveness, productivity and value delivery.
Support the design and implementation of transformation initiatives across programs and projects
Value Realisation and Performance Improvement
Help clients establish governance and performance disciplines that support successful execution
Support clients to define KPIs, performance measures and reporting frameworks that drive accountability and decision-making.
Provide strategic insight regarding portfolio performance, investment priorities and transformation outcomes.
Leadership, Team Contribution and Practice Development
Lead, coach and develop consulting teams to deliver high-quality outcomes and build capability.
Provide oversight, quality assurance and strategic direction across multiple engagements.
Contribute to the development of methodologies, thought leadership, tools and service offerings.
Build strong client relationships and support the growth of existing client accounts.
Lead development of proposals, market engagement and broader practice development activities
Qualifications and Experience required
Tier 1 consulting specialist experience in strategy, transformation, operating model optimisation, portfolio performance improvement and/or complex program execution
Strong market presence and executive level relationships with demonstrable experience in business development and professional services sales and origination.
Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and advise senior C-suite stakeholders across complex environments.
Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability and problem-solving skills.
Strong facilitation, communication and presentation skills, with experience leading senior stakeholder discussions.
Team capability build and leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or a related field is desirable
