About the role
Medela Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Perth, WA. In this casual role, you will be responsible for providing personalised support and care to individuals living with disabilities, helping them to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Your role will involve assisting with daily living activities, facilitating community engagement, and promoting the wellbeing and independence of our clients.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting participants with personal care, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Supporting participants with meal preparation, household chores, and other daily living tasks
- Accompanying participants to appointments, social activities, and community events
- Encouraging participants to engage in recreational and leisure activities
- Advocating for participants rights and ensuring their needs are met
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety protocols
What we're looking for
- A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience providing person-centred support to individuals with disabilities
- Minimum 2+ years of previous disability support experience is required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting the independence and well-being of others
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- A current First Aid certificate and National Police Clearance
- Australian permanent residency or citizenship is required for this position
