In this 12 month Fixed term contract, as the Digital Commercial Trade Manager – Everyday Needs, you will merge data-driven insights with sharp commercial execution to drive category growth, optimise profitability, and elevate the digital customer experience. Working across key strategic teams and external suppliers, you will take full ownership of high-impact digital trade initiatives that shape the future of online retail.
Drive Commercial Strategy: Lead the strategic planning, formulation, and execution of dedicated smart growth initiatives across the Everyday Needs portfolio.
Optimise Digital Trade Levers: Leverage online-only mechanics, spend-and-save tiers, flash deals, and app-exclusive promotions to maximise sales and margin mix.
Deliver Financial Performance: Manage P&L drivers, strike the ideal balance between volume and margin, and lead digital integration in Joint Business Plans to partner with suppliers on Digital activations.
Champion the Customer & Category: Provide strategic direction for campaign integration, oversee merchandising process improvements, and spearhead availability initiatives to reduce out-of-stocks.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary commercial expert connecting internal eComX teams, supermarket commercial buyers, and external supply partners.
Build Business Capability: Share commercial expertise across the broader business unit to foster innovative thinking and optimise overarching trade processes.
Proven Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience managing target-driven P&Ls, customer metrics, and financial growth within a large, complex organisation.
Category Leadership: Deep expertise in merchandise/buying leadership, having successfully managed large-volume portfolios and supplier partnerships.
Strong Negotiation & Strategic Skills: Advanced skills in commercial negotiation, data analysis, strategic planning, and converting insights into actionable outcomes.
Stakeholder Influence: A proven ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and build trusted relationships across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Problem-Solving Mindset: A structured approach to identifying root causes and delivering continuous business improvements.
Domain Expertise: Solid understanding of customer and category management principles (eCommerce or retail background highly regarded).
