About the role
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our People & Communications team in Adelaide on an 11-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, East, you will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate payroll processing across designated regions and business units.
Working closely with People & Communications, Finance and operational leaders, you will support payroll governance, reporting, reconciliations and continuous improvement. This is a great opportunity for a detail-focused payroll professional who enjoys solving problems and providing reliable support to employees, managers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
Maintain payroll records and process new starters, employee changes, transfers, leave and terminations.
Calculate salary adjustments, allowances, deductions, overtime, leave payments and back pays.
Respond to payroll queries and provide timely support to employees and managers.
Ensure payroll activity complies with legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, contracts and company policies.
Prepare payroll reports and support month-end reconciliations, journals and leave liability reporting.
Support statutory obligations including PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax and workers compensation.
Contribute to payroll process improvements, system enhancements, testing and implementation activities.
What You’ll Bring:
At least three years’ payroll processing experience within a medium to large organisation.
Sound understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and employment obligations.
Knowledge of modern awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions.
Experience using payroll and time and attendance systems.
Understanding of payroll accounting concepts, reconciliations and reporting.
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
Strong communication, stakeholder management and Microsoft Excel skills.
