Sorted Home & Pet Concierge Services is a small, professional dog walking and pet sitting business seeking a reliable and experienced dog handler to join our team.
This position offers a minimum of 10 hours per week, with the potential for additional regular hours. The role will also include covering holiday periods when required.
About the Role
This is an active, hands-on position involving daily dog walking and care, along with significant driving for multiple pick-ups and drop-offs throughout the day within our service area around Lane Cove and the Lower North Shore.
You will be responsible for safely managing dogs in fenced and off-leash park environments while ensuring their wellbeing at all times.
The role also involves:
- Daily manual handling, including correctly lifting older dogs into vehicles (training provided), as well as assisting younger dogs when needed
- Safely controlling up to four dogs per walk, some of whom may pull on lead, particularly during loading and unloading from the car
You’ll be working with a regular group of dogs that includes:
- Puppies from 5 months of age
- Senior dogs up to 15 years old
- Dogs with varying temperaments and care needs
- Reactive/restricted dogs, who are walked one-on-one, with guidance and training provided to the right person
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have proven experience handling dogs of all sizes, breeds and ages
- Be confident working with dogs that require calm, capable handling
- Have a strong understanding of dog behaviour and body language
- Be calm, observant and able to make good decisions in group settings
- Hold a full driver’s licence and be a confident driver
- Be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Be reliable, punctual and have good communication skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous professional dog walking, kennel, vet nursing or training experience
- Pet First Aid training
