Lava Construction is seeking an experienced Working Site Supervisor to lead a small site crew while remaining actively involved in the work.
This is a practical, hands-on role for someone with strong experience across concreting, earthworks and residential civil construction. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of one site, coordinate a crew of approximately two to five employees and subcontractors, and ensure each job is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Lava Construction has operated in South Australia since 2013, delivering concreting, excavation, retaining wall, drainage, demolition and associated site works throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate employees and subcontractors on site
- Plan daily labour, plant, materials and work sequencing
- Set out works and establish levels from plans and site information
- Complete and supervise formwork, reinforcement and concrete preparation
- Participate in concrete placing, screeding and finishing
- Operate excavators, skid steers and other construction plant
- Coordinate retaining wall, excavation and drainage works
- Conduct pre-starts and maintain safe working practices
- Monitor workmanship, productivity and site presentation
- Identify site issues early and communicate requirements to management
- Care for company vehicles, plant, tools and equipment
- Keep work progressing in accordance with the agreed scope and program
About you
You are an experienced construction professional who leads by example. You are comfortable directing a crew, but you are equally willing and able to get on the tools when required.
You will have:
- Demonstrated experience leading a concreting, civil or earthworks crew
- Strong concrete placing, screeding and finishing skills
- Experience with formwork, reinforcement and concrete levels
- Competence operating excavators and skid steers
- Experience constructing retaining walls and installing drainage
- The ability to read plans, set out works and establish levels accurately
- Good planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
- A strong understanding of site safety and quality requirements
- Clear and respectful communication skills
- A current Australian driver’s licence
- A current White Card
- Relevant plant tickets or evidence of competency
- Full Australian working rights
Experience across exposed aggregate and decorative concrete will be highly regarded. An MR or HR licence, first-aid qualification and additional civil construction tickets would also be advantageous.
