About the Role
Adapt Care is seeking a compassionate, experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our dedicated in-home care team supporting a bright and resilient 15-year-old with a rare diagnosis and complex medical needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality, person-centred care in a supportive family environment. You will work alongside a dedicated team of nurses and support workers providing 24/7 care, helping ensure Amalie's safety, comfort and wellbeing at home.
We are currently seeking nurses to fill a couple of weekday overnight shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with occasional weekend shifts available to provide additional cover. Specific days will be discussed and agreed upon with successful applicants and the existing care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate and person-centred nursing care in the home
- Monitor and respond appropriately to changes in the participant's condition
- Undertake respiratory management and airway support
- Perform deep suctioning safely and competently
- Provide CPAP and oxygen support as required
- Administer medications and complete relevant clinical documentation
- Support PEG feeding and other clinical care requirements
- Assist with seizure management
- Provide oral suctioning and full personal care
- Work collaboratively with the participant, family and wider care team
- Follow individualised care plans, clinical protocols and workplace policies
- Maintain a high standard of professional and clinical practice
Essential Skills & Experience Respiratory Management – MANDATORY
Applicants must be competent and confident in respiratory management, including:
- Deep suctioning
- CPAP
- Oxygen administration
- Safe airway management
Demonstrated competency and confidence with safe deep suctioning is an essential requirement for this position. Please do not apply if you do not have current experience and competence in this area.
Desirable Experience
Experience in the following areas is highly regarded, although training may be provided:
- PEG feeding
- Oral suctioning
- Intermittent catheterisation
- Medication administration
- Seizure management
- Complex personal care
- Community or paediatric nursing
- ICU or acute hospital nursing
ICU experience will be highly regarded.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Current Police Clearance or NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current driver's licence
- Current First Aid certification
- Manual Handling training
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
