About the Role
We have an ongoing requirement to employ a full time Small Engine Mechanic to be based at our depot in Malaga, Perth, and with the expectation you will travel to work sites in the Greater Perth area to fix or replace equipment on site.
The purpose of the position is to repair and maintain a wide variety of small internal combustion engines used in the Landcare industry plus responsible for ensuring all vehicles and plant are inspected and serviced in accordance with the scheduling register. The role specialises in small engines including chainsaws, brush cutters, blowers, pole saws, augers, chippers, electric backpacks and specialised vehicle mounted spray delivery and monitoring equipment, and calibration of highly sensitive equipment used in the delivery of herbicides.
Key Responsibilities
· On site repairing of damaged or broken mechanical parts
· Maintaining and servicing all small engines
· Responsible for adapting the specialised vehicle mounted spray delivery equipment to the vehicles, including determining and sourcing suppliers for modifications and adaptations
· Responsible for ensuring vehicle drivers undertake mandated vehicle and equipment inspections
· Maintaining the vehicle and equipment register
· Training staff in the correct use of the equipment to ensure safety and longevity
· Disassembling then reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
· Calibration and testing repaired and serviced equipment including calibration of herbicide application equipment
· Assisting vehicle drivers in breakdown situations involving electrical or mechanical problems and tyre changes
What we require
· Certificate III in Outdoor Power Equipment Technology and preferably Certificate IV
· Minimum of three years experience in outdoor power motors including chainsaws, brush cutters etc.
· Good working knowledge of vehicle mounted herbicide delivery systems and experience in calibrating Chemical Dosing Systems
· Chainsaw certifications (FWPCOT2236, FWPCOT2238) and extensive (5+ years plus) experience in chainsaw operation.
· Hold a current Western Australian Pest Technician License endorsed for Bushland/Mine site weeds and Lawns and Gardens
· Hold a HR Drivers Licence and have 4WD truck experience
· Have experience in leading small autonomous teams
· Proficient in Google sheets
· Good communication skills
Pay: From $79,500.00 per year
