We're seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based in Macquarie Park. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to further develop their career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will assist with a broad range of accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, support statutory reporting requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close activities
- Preparing and posting journal entries, accruals and prepayments
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
- Supporting external audit requirements and responding to audit queries
- Assisting with BAS, FBT and other statutory reporting obligations
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to resolve finance-related queries
- Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes
- Supporting system upgrades, process enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives
To be successful in this role you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 2 to 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the business
