About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Karen-speaking Casual Support Worker to join our team in Leppington, NSW.
Please note: This position supports a participant whose primary language is Karen. Fluency in both spoken Karen and English is an essential requirement. Applicants who are not fluent in Karen will not be considered.
You will be providing supports across both Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Participation (CP) services, assisting the participant to live as independently as possible while actively engaging in their community.
Key Responsibilities
● Provide person-centred supports in line with participants’ NDIS goals and individual support plans.
● Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care, medication prompts, and household tasks.
● Support participants to build independence, confidence, and social inclusion through community engagement.
● Maintain accurate documentation and shift notes in compliance with NDIS standards.
● Promote participant safety, dignity, and choice at all times.
● Communicate effectively with families, coordinators, and multidisciplinary teams.
● Support participants during community outings, appointments, and recreational activities.
About You
● Fluent in spoken Karen and English (Essential).
● Genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
● Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
● Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Essential Requirements
● Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent.
● NDIS Worker Screening Check & Working with Children Check.
● Current First Aid & CPR certificates.
● Current Australian driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance.
● Proof of right to work in Australia.
Desirable
● Experience working in SIL and/or Community Participation settings.
● Experience supporting participants from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
● Ability to support participants with complex needs or behaviours of concern.
● Flexibility to work across varied shifts, including sleepovers.

Pay: $38.00 – $43.23 per hour
