Your new role
Council is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join their passionate and dedicated team as Local Laws Livestock Management Officer. The Local Laws Unit prides itself on its proactive approach to community engagement, enforcement, and education, which encourages compliance and understanding of Local Laws within our community.
This position will undertake investigations in relation to reported breaches of Local Laws including stock related matters and proactive investigations of enclosures to reduce vehicle and animal related incidents as well as the management of animals impounded across Council’s Animal Management sites.
Ability to work on an ‘on call’ roster including after hours and weekends is a requirement for this role.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

- Excellent observation skills with the ability to identify evidence and deliver solutions to issues.
- Customer service skills with the ability to negotiate, de-escalate and resolve conflict and problems with a positive attitude.
- Communication, investigation, and interviewing skills with the ability to obtain evidence and produce written reports and briefs.
- Confidence in handling, identifying, and managing animal behaviours, particularly with livestock.
