About the Opportunity
Join the Youth Access Team (YAT) at headspace Gosford and Lake Haven and make a meaningful difference to the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12–25. You’ll work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, providing early intervention, assessment and support to young people and connecting them with the services they need.
In this role you will:

Conduct initial screening and bio-psychosocial assessments to identify the mental health, social and emotional needs of young people.

Provide brief interventions, support and advocacy, while promoting youth-friendly and holistic approaches to care.

Triage and coordinate referrals to appropriate internal and external health, mental health, drug and alcohol and community services.

Build strong relationships with young people, families, GPs, allied health professionals and community partners to support effective care pathways.

Maintain accurate clinical records and data, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, and contribute to the ongoing development of headspace services across Gosford, Lake Haven and outreach locations.

About You
You’ll bring a genuine commitment to supporting young people and a collaborative, person-centred approach to mental health and wellbeing. We are looking for someone who has:

Extensive experience working with young people and a strong understanding of the mental health needs of young people aged 12–25 and their families.

Excellent communication and engagement skills, including the ability to build rapport, actively listen and use motivational interviewing techniques.

Experience working both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and across a range of health and community services.

Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop effective referral pathways and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and registration where required, along with a current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to other locations across the District.
