About the Role
We are seeking a Motor Mechanic (General) to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role within our business, responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing and maintaining light vehicles, engines and mechanical systems within the DFZ Mechanical Workshop.
The position may also involve attending work sites or assisting with related site activities as required and directed by the Manager/Supervisor, within the scope of the position. All work must be carried out in accordance with DFZ’s workplace health and safety policies, site requirements and relevant environmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Work as directed by the Manager/Supervisor.
· Inspect and test engines and mechanical components following repairs to ensure proper performance.
· Diagnose mechanical faults and dismantle, remove and repair engine components.
· Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes and filter replacements.
· Adjust engine components and systems, including valves, fuel systems and compression settings.
· Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective parts.
· Rebuild engines and mechanical systems following repairs or maintenance and conduct thorough testing to confirm correct operation.
· Test and adjust mechanical components and systems to ensure proper functioning.
· Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
· Use computerised diagnostic equipment to analyse engine performance and identify faults in electrical and electronic systems.
· Attend construction or work sites when required and assist other team members with site-related activities.
· Communicate findings, repair requirements and recommendations with supervisors, clients and other team members.
· Complete job cards, maintenance records and inspection checklists to ensure accurate service tracking and compliance reporting.
· Follow workplace health and safety procedures and environmental requirements when handling fuels, lubricants and hazardous materials.
· Comply with DFZ Outsourcing & Engineering Services Pty Ltd workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
· Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
· Previous experience in a motor mechanic or general mechanical role.
· Strong mechanical fault-finding, problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
· Good knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills.
· A current driver's licence.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications and Tickets
The following qualifications or tickets are desirable but not essential:
· Forklift Licence / High Risk Work Licence
· EWP (Elevated Work Platform) ticket
· Franna/Crane ticket
· Working at Heights certification
· Construction Induction (White Card)
· First Aid Certificate
Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
