About the role
Reporting to the Planned Surgery Services Manager, the Endoscopy Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and optimising care pathways for patients awaiting endoscopy procedures, with a particular focus on long-wait, clinically complex and at-risk patients.
Working collaboratively with clinicians, operational teams and key stakeholders, you will proactively manage patient pathways, identify barriers to timely care, analyse service performance, and support service redesign initiatives that improve access and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate patient-centred endoscopy pathways for patients exceeding recommended waiting timeframes.
Monitor waitlist performance, patient flow and access indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate referrals, assessments and optimisation strategies to support patient readiness for procedures.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to reduce delays, cancellations and non-attendance.
Analyse clinical and operational data to support decision-making and service improvement initiatives.
Contribute to demand and capacity planning activities across endoscopy services.
Develop and maintain care plans for patients awaiting procedures, ensuring compliance with the Victorian Planned Surgery Access Policy.
Prepare reports, presentations and performance summaries for management and governance forums.
Engage with clinicians, patients and operational teams to support equitable and timely access to care.
Contribute to quality improvement, innovation and service redesign activities across Planned Surgery services
About you
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
Experience in waitlist management, patient flow coordination, access management, perioperative services or planned surgery.
Strong understanding of patient-centred care and the coordination of complex healthcare pathways.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience interpreting service performance data.
Experience leading or contributing to quality improvement, service redesign or healthcare reform initiatives.
Well-developed organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Advanced written communication skills, including report writing and preparation of briefing materials.
The ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong collaborative relationships.
Highly Regarded
Experience in endoscopy, gastroenterology, surgical services or procedural medicine.
Knowledge of the Victorian Planned Surgery Access Policy and access management principles.
Experience using patient administration systems such as Cerner, iPM, PAS or ESIS.
Understanding of demand and capacity management methodologies.
Experience supporting access improvement or elective surgery reform initiatives.
Qualifications or training in Quality Improvement, Lean methodology, Project Management, Health Management or a related discipline.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
