In a fast-growing and constantly evolving metropolitan municipality, a high-performing and collaborative Planning Services team is essential to delivering Darebin’s vision for a more equitable, vibrant and connected city.
As Team Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day coordination of a team of Administration Officers, ensuring the delivery of sector-leading business and customer services to the community and the Statutory Planning Unit. As a key member of the Customer and Business Services leadership team, you will work collaboratively across the building, planning and health portfolios to provide administrative support, drive staff development and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
Working closely with Statutory Planning leaders, you will play a critical role in ensuring that customer service delivery, business processes and supporting systems enable the efficient and effective operation of the Statutory Planning team and the administration of the Darebin Planning System.

You will:
- Lead, develop and support a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and service excellence.

- Identify, implement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Play a key role in preparing for the move to Council’s new Enterprise Resource Planning system.
- Oversee the administration of statutory planning processes, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and the timely achievement of statutory timeframes.
- Work collaboratively with planning leaders and key stakeholders to strengthen business systems, improve processes and support the effective operation of the Statutory Planning team.
About you:
Experience leading and developing teams within a busy, customer-focused environment, including the coordination of administrative functions, workflow management and service delivery.
Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to achieving positive outcomes and building effective working relationships.
Well-developed administrative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify practical solutions and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Passion to drive continuous improvement initiatives, streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
High proficiency in the use and optimisation of information technology systems.
Ability to extract data, analyse and produce reports to support operational performance, business decision-making and reporting requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and correspondence and engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
