Northern Rivers Community Gateway is seeking a NILs Loans Officer to join our Financial Inclusion team in Lismore. This is a permanent part-time position working 21 hours across 3 days per week.
The No Interest Loans Scheme (NILs) provides people on low incomes with access to safe, fair and affordable credit for essential goods and services. As a NILs Loans Officer, you'll work directly with clients to support them through the loan application process and help deliver an important financial inclusion service to our community.
As a NILs Loans Officer, you will:
- Conduct loan interviews with clients both face-to-face and remotely.
- Support clients throughout the loan application process, including gathering required documentation and following up on outstanding information.
- Prepare and process loan applications in accordance with program and funding guidelines.
- Maintain accurate client records, case notes and information within program databases.
- Maintain appropriate contact with clients regarding loan repayments in accordance with policies and program guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the NILs team to meet service delivery and funding targets.
- Liaise with Centrelink and other relevant services when required.
- Promote NILs and other Northern Rivers Community Gateway programs and services.
- Contribute to reporting, team meetings, supervision and continuous improvement activities.
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, confident communicating with people from a range of backgrounds and committed to providing a respectful and non-judgemental service.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An understanding of the needs of people living on a low income.
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience to undertake the responsibilities of the role.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly, meet deadlines and achieve service targets.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy and experience using databases and Microsoft Office programs.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Experience in microfinance, loans or a related field is desirable but not essential.

Essential Requirements
The successful applicant will require:
- A current NSW Driver Licence.
- A satisfactory National Police Check.
The position is primarily based at 76 Carrington Street, Lismore NSW, with some travel across the NSW Far North Coast and work at other Community Gateway locations potentially required.
