The Opportunity
Due to continued growth in the business, our firm is seeking an Accountant to join the team. Working closely with the partners and other team members, you will support our clients across a broad range of compliance, reporting and advisory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing financial statements and reports for clients — including companies, trusts, partnerships, self-managed superfunds and individuals — for presentation to management, directors and relevant statutory bodies
- Preparing and lodging income tax returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns
- Assisting clients with budgeting decisions and the development of sound accounting policies and procedures
- Reviewing clients’ income, expenditure and operating costs to identify areas for improved financial performance
- Providing advice on financial reporting obligations and ensuring client records comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Advising clients on the financial and taxation implications of different business structures, plans and operations
- Liaising with banks and financial institutions on behalf of clients regarding funding and financial arrangements
- Assisting with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero and MYOB
- Monitoring and helping maintain sound internal control processes for clients
- Assisting with financial investigations, audit support and other advisory engagements as required
- Supporting the review of work prepared by junior staff, with opportunities for mentoring as your experience grows
About You
- Relevant accounting experience (previous experience in Business Services and Tax highly regarded)
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce or a related field
- CA/CPA qualified, or actively working towards this qualification
- Familiarity with Australian tax and compliance requirements
- Experience with cloud-based accounting packages such as Xero and MYOB (highly regarded)
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, professional work ethic
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients
