The Role
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the hotel. From guest room repairs and preventative maintenance to painting, landscaping and minor refurbishment projects, you'll play an important role in ensuring our properties remain safe, functional and welcoming.
No two days are the same, and you'll work closely with hotel teams and external contractors to keep our hotels operating at the highest standard.
Success in the role is measured by the timely completion of maintenance requests, the proactive identification of issues before they impact guests, and the ongoing presentation and condition of the hotel asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete day-to-day maintenance requests across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing.
- Perform general repairs including painting, patching, basic carpentry and minor plumbing.
- Maintain external areas, gardens and hotel surrounds.
- Assist with refurbishment projects and planned maintenance works.
- Coordinate and support contractors when required.
- Maintain maintenance records and report identified issues.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and support emergency repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with WHS requirements.
Skills Required
- Dynamic, vibrant, confident, and professional personality
- Trade background preferred but not required
- Responsible for keeping the hotel maintained and fixing any errors that are needed.
- Proven experience as hotel maintenance or other similar position.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.
- Experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and WHS.
- A well-rounded helper who offer preventative maintenance and repairs to all areas of the hotel, including its exterior, heating and cooling systems, plumbing, electrical systems, floors, walls and furniture.
- Skills to use a variety of equipment and the ability to work a physically demanding role that can demand on-call work to handle emergencies.
- Able to work as a team and unsupervised, whilst respecting staff and hotel values.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role is highly desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to manage multiple tasks, conflicting deadlines and varying situations.
- High standard of personal presentation
- Strong local knowledge of Canberra and the surrounding regions is highly desirable but not essential
- A current full Australian drivers’ licence is essential
- The flexibility to work various shifts on a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- You must also meet the legal requirements to work in this country
