Yulong Stud is seeking an experienced Equine Truck Driver to join our team at our prestigious stud farm in Nagambie, Victoria.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for the thoroughbred industry to play a key role in transporting horses safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will have a background in either Equine Transportation or Heavy Vehicle operation with Stud experience.
Hours and Work Pattern:
- Full-time role
- Monday – Friday
- Weekend work on a rotating basis
- Seasonal overtime during the breeding season
When there are no scheduled horse movements, you’ll support the team with general stud duties
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Transporting horses safely and efficiently between farms, veterinary clinics, and other locations.
- Assisting stud staff with preparation for loading the horses onto the Vehicle.
- Assisting stud staff with leading the horses on and off the vehicle safely.
- Ensuring regular or scheduled breaks are taken as requested and reporting signs of illness or injury during or after travelling.
- Maintaining accurate Truck Logbooks and ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Keeping the truck clean, well-maintained, and in good working order.
- Reporting any vehicle incidents, defects, or maintenance needs promptly.
- Assisting with general stud duties, when there are no scheduled horse movements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience safely transporting horses in heavy vehicles, with a strong focus on horse welfare.
- A clean driving record with a strong understanding of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Regulations.
- Hold a valid Heavy Vehicle licence, minimum class being Medium Rigid.
- Proven experience handling horses of all ages and genders.
- A reliable, safe and hardworking nature with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, well-presented attitude.
- Undertake long-distance travel as required.
