We are entering an exciting phase of growth and are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to become a key member of our team. Our business specialises in precision sheet metal design and fabrication for high-performance industries.
About the Role
This is a hands-on engineering and manufacturing position where you will work closely with production, quality and customers to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and on time.
You will play a key role in production planning, CAD design, programming, process improvement and quality assurance while supporting our advanced sheet metal manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and modify designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Program CNC sheet metal equipment, including Trumpf turret punch machines
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes
- Support production scheduling and workflow improvements
- Oversee Quality Assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare production documentation and work instructions
- Liaise with customers and suppliers on engineering requirements
- Support press brake operations and manufacturing activities where required
- Drive Lean manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Strong background in sheet metal fabrication
- Advanced SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills
- Experience programming Trumpf Turret Punch machinery
- Press Brake operating experience
- Strong understanding of QA systems and manufacturing quality standards
- Experience with CNC programming and production planning
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
