About the business unit
The CVE Operations team within the Community Safety, Victims and Racing Group oversees the two therapeutic case management schemes established under the Terrorism (Community Protection) Act 2003 (Vic). The schemes provide early intervention and tailored therapeutic support to people who are vulnerable to, or at risk of radicalising towards, violent extremism.
Working within a multi-agency governance model, the team provides specialised assessment, therapeutic interventions and case management, with oversight and authorisation from the Countering Violent Extremism Multi-Agency Panel (CVE MAP) and the Secretary of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
What you will do
As Senior Case Manager – Countering Violent Extremism, you will provide specialist case management for people assessed as low to moderate risk who are vulnerable to, or at risk of radicalising towards, violent extremism.
You will:
- manage a caseload and develop tailored case plans, risk assessments and therapeutic interventions;
- monitor, coordinate and review participant progress, needs and risk;
- provide calm, clear direction when supporting people with complex or challenging behaviours;
- provide high-level specialist advice to the CVE MAP and Secretary of DJCS;
- prepare detailed reports, briefings and advice in accordance with procedural and legal requirements; and
- contribute to continuous improvement of case management guidelines, practice and service delivery.
This keeps the important statutory, governance and operational context, while avoiding the level of detail that would normally belong in the full position description.
About you
A qualification in social work, psychology, allied health or a related field is desirable.
You should bring strong case management skills and experience with complex needs.
You should also have:
- strong case management skills, including risk assessment and planning for complex cases;
- practical experience delivering tailored support to address risk and individual needs;
- sound judgement when improving case guidelines and meeting legal requirements;
- clear communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills in sensitive situations.
