Experienced Cloud Engineer? Show us your skills, and we'll show you how to use them in Cloud Security!
RedBear IT is a Cloud Security Services company. We enable our customers to migrate to and innovate on Cloud. We are a growing Melbourne based company with large and small customers, both start-ups and established, commercial and government. RedBear IT is known for building high-quality solutions for our customers, and we also provide a managed security service where we're recognised as specialists in Cloud security.
We're currently looking for an engineer with real depth to help us continue to deliver exceptional service. RedBear IT cherish critical thinkers – engineers who can work with a challenge or a problem and see it through to the end. We don't like to do things twice, so if you like developing automation and letting the machines do the boring work, this is a great place to do that. Our customers value our expertise, so you'll need to be able to craft a design and make it happen.
In this role, you'll:
- Design, build and operate cloud solutions across AWS and Microsoft Azure / Windows Server – for our customers and our own managed service.
- Respond to operational issues and potential incidents as part of our managed services team.
- Work directly with customers to design and deliver new solutions, from architecture through to build.
- Be a natural point of escalation and mentoring for the wider team – sharing what you know and helping others level up.
- Wear plenty of hats: from coding automation using AI, to presenting solutions, to getting hands-on troubleshooting and resolving a live issue.
What's the technical wrap?
Core stack
- Strong hands-on experience across both AWS and Microsoft Azure / Windows Server – genuine cross-cloud depth is essential for this role, not just a nice-to-have.
- Python and serverless (Lambda) for coding; CloudFormation for infrastructure as code – we're keen to hear about your experience with Azure equivalents too.
- APIs & MCPs – experience writing and/or using them for integration.
- Source control (e.g. GitHub) and pipeline-based delivery.
Analytics & security
- Exposure to Sumo Logic, Splunk, OpenSearch, Elastic, Athena, SQL, or general data analysis.
- An instinct for highly available, resilient and secure solutions for enterprise customers – you don't need to be a security guru, but security should be front of mind in every decision you make.
Although we don't think of ourselves as a DevOps shop, we operate in a DevSecOps manner. We break it, we think about it, we build it and we operate it. Securely. It's your chance to get your fingers into a broad range of Cloud and security technical pies.
The environment
- Melbourne CBD based, with flexible, hybrid working.
- The chance to attend conferences as part of your learning.
- A collaborative, no-silo culture – we ask for help when we need it and expect you to too.
- You will need to own your own space. Problems need to be solved. Issues need to be troubleshooted. Ideas need to be built (and no, we don’t have all the ideas).
- We are a heavy engineering team in a rapidly evolving area and we need to move at speed with quality.
- Room to grow your technical scope as we continue to scale and adopt new technology. We value an engineer who can grab an opportunity and run with it.
- If you care about your status or your title, you are best served elsewhere.
