The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Alcohol and Other Drugs service offers free, non-judgmental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
An exceptional opportunity is available for an experienced and inspiring leader to join the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District's Forensic Drug & Alcohol Team. This is more than a leadership role. It is an opportunity to shape the future of forensic drug and alcohol services, influence positive outcomes for individuals involved in the criminal justice system, and drive meaningful change within a highly specialised and rewarding area of healthcare.
As Team Leader, you will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership to a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based alcohol and other drug treatment services through the Magistrates Referral into Treatment (MERIT) and Drug Court programs. You will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of these programs, supporting staff through clinical supervision, mentoring and professional development while fostering strong partnerships across health, justice and community sectors. Alongside leading service delivery and managing a clinical caseload, you will oversee financial and activity performance, ensuring resources are effectively managed and services continue to meet the evolving needs of the community.

What you will bring to the role
Tertiary qualifications and professional registration/membership as follows: (a) Occupational Therapy minimum bachelor’s degree and general registration with AHPRA; or (b) Social Work – minimum bachelor's degree and eligibility for membership of AASW; or (c) Senior Psychologist - a four-year degree in psychology and general registration with AHPRA; or (d) Clinical/Forensic Psychologist - Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical or Forensic Psychology, full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement or working towards endorsement as a clinical or forensic psychologist (as appropriate to postgraduate qualification); or (e) Counsellor: Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree in counselling and evidence of listing on ARCAP as either PACFA (clinical registrant) or ACA (minimum level

Demonstrated understanding of current principles, policies, and practices of health service delivery relevant to the area of Drug & Alcohol.

Extensive clinical experience working, for at least 5 years, in a drug & alcohol service or relevant area and awareness of the MERIT and Drug Court Programs.

Demonstrated experience in frontline leadership including developing and implementing programs and new services within timeframes, establishing referral pathways, communicating effectively with a range of service providers, promoting system change and delivering outcomes.

Demonstrated experience in leading and facilitating change management processes.

Demonstrated experience including the ability to work collaboratively with patients when developing and reviewing care plans, conflict resolution skills, advocacy and negotiation skills and escalation of issues to line managers.

Demonstrated experience with using advanced reasoning skills including the preparation of high quality written and oral reports. This includes experience with using patient based electronic record systems and office-based computer applications

Current driver's license (NSW eligibility) and the willingness to travel for work purposes.
