About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and compassionate Allied Health Assistant to join the GEM@Home team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. GEM@Home provides hospital-level care to patients in their own homes, supporting them to achieve their best possible level of health, independence and function outside the traditional hospital setting. Working under the supervision and delegation of GEM@Home Allied Health clinicians, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred support to patients in their homes. You will assist patients to work towards their individual goals and support their overall health, wellbeing and independence. This is a varied role requiring excellent communication skills, the ability to work autonomously within your scope of practice and a compassionate approach to patient care. In addition to direct patient support, you will assist with equipment management, resource preparation and administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the GEM@Home service.
Classification: Grade 2 Allied Health Assistant ($70,349.24 per annum, pro rata for part time).
What You Will Do
As an Allied Health Assistant, you will:
Work closely with Allied Health professionals to support the delivery of care in patients’ homes
Deliver delegated exercise programs and therapeutic activities under the supervision of Allied Health professionals
Work independently in the community while remaining within delegated responsibilities and scope of practice
Support patients to achieve their individual health, wellbeing and functional goals
Assist with equipment management, preparation of resources and other operational requirements
Communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team
Adapt to changing patient needs and service demands
You will bring:
A completed Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (HLT43015) or equivalent qualification recognised under the Enterprise Agreement
Experience within a public health setting as a clinician or student
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care
A current Victorian Driver Licence
A current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one

About GEM@Home
GEM@Home is part of St Vincent’s Care at Home, a division of St Vincent’s Health Australia focused on delivering and expanding high-quality healthcare services in patients’ homes. The GEM@Home service operates seven days a week and brings together a multidisciplinary team including Geriatricians, Nursing, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Administration and additional specialist support as required. The team is based at St George’s Hospital in Kew, with care delivered primarily within patients’ homes.
