About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Plant Accountant to join our Finance team at our MCC Label Darra site. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an accounting professional looking to develop their career in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
This role is initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position based on individual performance and business requirements. This provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your capabilities while building a long-term career with MCC.
In addition, the role offers valuable exposure to Financial Controller responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide support and occasional cover for the Financial Controller during periods of leave and absence, gaining hands-on experience in higher-level financial reporting, compliance, analysis and business partnering activities.
Duties include
- Prepare and review daily and monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
- Prepare journals, accruals and month-end accounting entries.
- Support and coordinate month-end close activities to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Prepare monthly Profit & Loss reports, variance analysis and management commentary.
- Support statutory reporting requirements and financial disclosures.
- Assist in fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals and depreciation activities.
- Manage inventory reconciliations, stock reporting and inventory valuation processes.
- Analyse manufacturing costs, production data and operational variances.
- Support BAS, tax and other compliance reporting requirements.
- Coordinate audit requests, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Develop KPI reports, dashboards and financial performance reports.
- Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and reporting support.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Progressing towards or completed CA/CPA qualification is highly regarded but not a requirement
- Previous experience in a financial accounting, management accounting or plant accounting role.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Experience with inventory accounting, costing or fixed asset management is desirable.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify key trends.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (we use CERM) and Microsoft Excel.
