About the role
We are seeking a full-time Chef to join our team at Phillip Island Wine
Co Pty Ltd, a winery and hospitality business located on Phillip Island
(Ventnor), Victoria.
The base salary offered is $75,000-$85,000 per annum plus
superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and cook a full range of meals in accordance with the restaurant’s menu, quality standards and presentation requirements.
- Develop and refine menu items that showcase Victorian local produce and seasonal flavours while maintaining consistency, flavour balance and quality.
- Assist with coordinating kitchen operations during service, ensuring efficient workflow, food quality and timely delivery of dishes.
- Liaise with the Head Chef and management regarding kitchen operational issues and promptly implement corrective actions as required.
- Liaise with front-of-house staff to ensure food presentation and quality are maintained until meals reach customers.
- Monitor food preparation processes to ensure compliance with food safety standards, hygiene regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist with the training and development of junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of cleaning rosters, Food Safety Plans and other kitchen compliance requirements.
- Undertake other reasonable kitchen and operational duties as required.
Skills and Experience Requirements
- · Relevant culinary qualifications such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Diploma of Hospitality Management.
- · 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- · Sound knowledge of food safety standards, WHS requirements and kitchen compliance obligations.
- · Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- · Ability to work as part of a team and maintain consistent food quality and presentation during busy service periods.
