About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Sales Consultant to join MHIAA’s Technical Sales team in Queensland. This permanent full-time role is focused on developing commercial project opportunities by building strong relationships with consultant engineers, mechanical contractors and other project stakeholders.
With a strong field focus, you will combine technical HVAC knowledge with consultative selling. You will support product selections, influence specifications, contribute to tender outcomes and help customers identify practical solutions that meet project requirements.
Working closely with the Technical Sales Manager, Commercial team, National Technical, Service and Inventory teams, success in this role will come from maintaining a disciplined call cycle, strengthening specification rates, growing project opportunities and contributing to sales revenue targets.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a structured call cycle with consultant engineering firms and project account holders across Queensland.
- Build and nurture relationships with consultant engineers, mechanical contractors, architects, builders, developers and other commercial stakeholders.
- Provide accurate technical selections, product advice and timely responses to project enquiries.
- Influence MHI brand and model specification in tender documents and recommend suitable MHIAA solutions where competitor products are specified.
- Deliver technical sales presentations, training sessions and lunch-and-learns to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support tender and quotation activity, including preparing e-solution files and contributing to high-quality submissions when required.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, develop new relationships and implement initiatives that increase project opportunities and improve win rates.
- Coordinate project timing, drawdown and delivery requirements with mechanical contractors, the Technical Sales Manager and Inventory team.
- Collaborate with the wider commercial team to secure project wins and deliver against sales targets.
What You’ll Bring
- A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree (or similar), or an HVAC Trade Certificate.
- At least two years’ experience in a similar technical sales, consulting or HVAC-focused role.
- Proven sales, business development and account management capability, including identifying and converting new opportunities.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of air conditioning components and operating functions.
- Experience preparing quotations and tender documentation.
- Strong presentation skills with the confidence to deliver technical information to consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills, with the ability to build rapport and provide clear technical advice.
