Mayflower offers rewarding career opportunities for those passionate about providing exceptional care to older Australians. Join our dedicated team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community's seniors.
WHS Manager (Work, Health, Safety Manager)
Safety in aged care is serious work. The risks are real, the environment is complex and the people who do this job well understand that protecting workers and protecting residents are two sides of the same coin. If that's how you think about WHS, and you've got the experience to back it up, we'd love to talk.
Working at Mayflower
Mayflower is a not-for-profit aged care provider that has been caring for older Australians for more than 60 years. We have residential aged care facilities at Brighton East, Reservoir and Edith Bendell, retirement living, and a corporate team that underpins the amazing work that is being done. We're not a large corporate. We're a values-led organisation where people are genuinely known, where good work is noticed and where the contribution you make has a direct and visible impact on the people in our care every single day.
About theRole
We're looking for an experienced WHS Manager to take operational ownership of our WHS portfolio. This is a real leadership role with genuine scope. You'll have strategic oversight from our Executive General Manager Quality & Safety, but the day-to-day running of our WHS Management System, risk and incident governance, psychosocial safety, emergency management, contractor safety and consultation sits with you. You'll be trusted to get on with it, and supported to do it well.
You'll be out across our sites regularly, working alongside managers and care teams, coaching leaders on their WHS responsibilities, running investigations, coordinating audits and helping us build the kind of proactive safety culture that actually sticks. We're at an important moment in strengthening our WHS systems and controls, and this role will be central to shaping what that looks like for Mayflower going forward. It's a genuine opportunity to leave your mark on an organisation that takes safety seriously and is committed to doing better.
About You
You're an experienced WHS professional who is comfortable operating with autonomy in a complex, people-focused environment. You know how to read a risk register, lead a thorough investigation and build relationships with operational leaders who are time-poor and stretched. You understand that sustainable safety culture is built through trust, visibility and practical support, not policy documents and compliance checklists.
You'll bring a relevant WHS qualification and solid hands-on experience in a WHS management or senior advisory role, specifically within aged care, healthcare, disability or community services. This is a firm requirement. The complexity of WHS risk in this sector is real and we need someone who already understands the environment they're walking into.
Beyond the technical expertise, we're looking for someone with strong knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, genuine capability in risk management, incident investigation and assurance, and the communication skills to influence and coach people at every level of the organisation. You'll be equally comfortable presenting to a Board Committee and having a candid conversation with a frontline team leader about a hazard on the floor. You'll also bring a genuine curiosity about continuous improvement and a commitment to staying current in a regulatory environment that is always evolving.
Experience with psychosocial risk management, ISO 45001, WHS auditing, formal investigation training or aged care accreditation activities are all a bonus and will be highly regarded.
The Package
The base salary is generous plus superannuation, and as an NFP organisation, Mayflower employees also access salary packaging of up to almost $18,500 tax-free per year. It's a genuinely meaningful financial benefit, and combined with the base salary it makes this a very competitive total package for the right person.
On top of that, you'll have access to MyMayflowerBenefits, our employee benefits program, which includes Novated car leasing, café and hairdresser discounts, Fitness Passport and Thrive. You can also access professional development support, a free and confidential Employee Assistance Program and a leadership team that is genuinely invested in the people who work here. We work smart, we care about what we do and we look after each other. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we'd love to hear from you.

Quality Business Partner
Are you a clinically credible Registered Nurse with a genuine passion for quality improvement, someone who thrives on turning compliance into culture and audit findings into meaningful change?
Mayflower is seeking an experienced Quality Business Partner to join our Quality, Risk and Compliance team. This is a role for someone who wants to make a real and lasting difference — not just to systems and processes, but to the everyday experience of the residents in our care.
Working at Mayflower
At Mayflower, we believe that needing support shouldn't limit a person's quality of life. As a not-for-profit aged care provider with more than 60 years of experience, we are committed to Care without Compromise. Quality is not a compliance exercise at Mayflower — it is the foundation of everything we do. Our Quality team plays a central role in ensuring that our residents receive safe, effective and person-centred care every single day.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Quality, Risk and Compliance, the Quality Business Partner is responsible for driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance across Mayflower's aged care homes and home care services. You will work closely with managers and staff across all sites to support accreditation readiness, oversee audits, manage complaints and incidents and develop action plans that translate quality data into real improvement.
You will also play a key role in keeping Mayflower's policies and procedures current, promoting a culture of person-centred care and identifying innovative opportunities to enhance resident outcomes. This is a hands-on, partnership-focused role — you will be out in the organisation, working alongside operational teams, not behind a desk reviewing spreadsheets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support accreditation readiness, self-assessment, gap analysis and mandatory reporting activities
- Coordinate and monitor Continuous Quality Improvement plans across all Mayflower services
- Manage complaints and incidents — identifying trends and driving corrective action
- Ensure compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and review policies and procedures to reflect current best practice
- Analyse quality data and report trends to the Executive Management Team
- Promote education and staff development across the organisation in quality and compliance
- Identify and implement projects that advance person-centred care and best practice outcomes
- Support outbreak management and infection control processes in collaboration with IPC leads
- Oversee data collection for the National Quality Indicator Program and other mandatory requirements
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse (mandatory)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a continuous improvement or compliance role within aged care
- Demonstrated understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and experience with accreditation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — you can read data and turn it into action
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills — you influence without authority
- Experience managing change and supporting staff development
- Current driver's licence and satisfactory Police Check
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification in a health or management discipline
- Formal quality management education
- Infection Prevention and Control experience
The Package
The base salary is generous plus superannuation, and as an NFP organisation, Mayflower employees also access salary packaging of up to almost $18,500 tax-free per year. It's a genuinely meaningful financial benefit, and combined with the base salary it makes this a very competitive total package for the right person.

WHS Business Partner
Work Health & Safety Business Partner
Are you the kind of WHS professional who enjoys getting out on the floor, talking to people and making things safer — rather than writing policies?
If so, keep reading. This might be exactly what you've been looking for.
Working at Mayflower
At Mayflower, we believe that needing support shouldn't limit a person's quality of life. Asa not-for-profit aged care provider with more than 60 years of experience, we are committed to delivering Care without Compromise — and that commitment starts with our people. A safe workplace isn't just a compliance obligation at Mayflower. It's a genuine expression of how much we value the team who shows up every day for our residents.
We are currently in the middle of a significant transformation of our Quality, Safety and Governance frameworks — aligning with the Aged Care Act 2024, the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and contemporary best practice. Which means this is a genuinely exciting time to join us. There is real work to do, real impact to be made, and a leadership team that is deeply committed to getting it right.
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Quality & Safety, the WHS Business Partner will be the go-to safety expert across Mayflower's residential aged care facilities and corporate services. This is a hands-on, relationship-first role— you will spend as much time working alongside operational leaders on the floor as you will behind a desk, and that's entirely intentional.
You will be joining at a pivotal moment. Mayflower is currently mobilising a new WHS Framework from project phase into business-as-usual, and the WHS Business Partner will work directly with the EGM Quality & Safety to make that transition smooth, sustainable and genuinely embedded into how the organisation operates. This isn't a role where you inherit a tidy system and maintain it —you are helping to build something that will shape Mayflower's safety culture for years to come.
Beyond the mobilisation work, you will be providing expert WHS advice and coaching to managers, leading incident investigations, coordinating audits and risk assessments, supporting psychosocial risk and well being initiatives, maintaining risk registers and preparing reports for the Executive Leadership Team, Quality & Safety Committees and the Board. You will also play a key role in the organisation's preparation for accreditation and recertification activities, so an understanding of how WHS sits within a broader regulatory and governance context is genuinely useful.
What You'll Be Doing Day to Day
No two days will look the same — which is part of what makes this role genuinely interesting. On any given day you might be walking a wing at Brighton with a Care Manager, talking through a hazard they've identified; running a WHS Committee meeting; reviewing an incident investigation; coaching a new supervisor on their safety responsibilities; or preparing a Board report on organisational risk trends.
You will partner closely with operational leaders across all three of Mayflower's sites— Brighton, Reservoir and Pascoe Vale — as well as the corporate office. You will coordinate contractor safety and compliance activities, facilitate worker consultation processes and contribute to broader continuous improvement initiatives across Quality, Safety and Risk. The role also carries responsibility for ensuring Mayflower's compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act so you need to know your legislation, but more importantly, you need to be able to translate it into practical action that people actually follow.
About You
You are apractical, credible and energetic WHS professional who is just as comfortablehaving a conversation on the floor with a PCA as you are presenting to anExecutive Leadership Team. You know your legislation, you know how to run aninvestigation, and you know that the best safety cultures are built onrelationships and trust.
To besuccessful in this role, you will bring:
- Qualifications in Work Health &Safety or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a WHS Business Partner, Advisor or similar role
- Experience in aged care, health care or another highly regulated industry
- Strong working knowledge of Victorian WHS legislation — OHS Act 2004 and associated regulations
- Experience conducting investigations, and risk assessments
- Excellent communication andstakeholder engagement skills — you can influence without authority
- Strong analytical and reportingskills
- A practical, solutions-focusedapproach
Why Join Mayflower Right Now?
Honestly? Because the timing is good. You would be joining a well-regarded NFP organisation at a moment of genuine transformation, a clear strategic direction and the opportunity to make your mark on a WHS function that is being built and improved.
You will work directly alongside an experienced EGM and have real visibility at the leadership table. You will have the autonomy to do the work properly and the support to do it well. And you will do it in an organisation where the mission - enriching the lives of older Australians - gives your work genuine meaningevery day.
We also offer:
- Competitive salary packaging benefits— as an NFP provider, packaging significantly increases your take-home pay
- Professional development opportunities and a leadership team invested in your growth
