Primary objective
Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Social Work services within NT Health. This position will require
the applicant to work on call, within an extended hours service model, which may include weekends and after hours.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, clinically, and culturally appropriate Social Work services under minimal supervision within a
multidisciplinary framework.
2. Coordinate the acute response to adult and child sexual assault victims.
3. Perform duties in accordance with the national standards of best practice response to domestic family and sexual
violence.
4. Provide feedback to senior staff and management on program and clinical issues.
5. Provide clinical/professional supervision to relevant staff
6. Prioritise and manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timelines and health
outcomes are met.
7. Ensure thorough and appropriate handover and communication of all cases after hours to day staff.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant qualifications in Social Work that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Australian Association of
Social Work (AASW).
2. Post graduate experience in providing contemporary high level clinical Social Work services to patients and
families/carers.
3. Post graduate experience in contemporary DFSV intervention, risk assessment and safety planning.
4. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and proven experience in working effectively with
patients and families/carers of diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
5. Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation, and conflict management skills, with experience
working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
6. Demonstrated competence in counselling adults and children (individual and groups).
7. Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively.
8. Hold current NT drivers’ licence or have the ability to obtain and ability and willingness to travel by car, 4WD vehicle
and/or light aircraft to visit and work in rural and remote communities for periods of up to 5-days at a time.
9. Willingness to work as part of an after-hours on call roster including weekends and public holidays
Desirable
1. Post graduate experience in providing contemporary Social Work Service in a clinical Hospital environment.
