Renderlook are specialists in architectural mouldings. With over 20 years in the trade, we design, manufacture and install the trims, bands, architraves, sills, parapets, quoins, columns and dentils that frame and define a building's façade. Our mouldings are made in Sydney around a dense, premium-grade polystyrene core and finished with multiple coats of our own render coating and a sand texture, so that once installed they read as solid, traditionally rendered masonry.
We work across French Provincial, Victorian, Art Deco, Federation and Modern Classic designs, producing everything from straight bands through to highly intricate custom profiles for builders, architects, designers and homeowners. We are more than a supplier — our own tradespeople attend site and carry out the installation, jointing, rendering and finishing work that turns a delivered profile into a finished façade.
We are looking for an experienced Renderer / Solid Plasterer to join our on-site installation team.
Core responsibility
Install architectural mouldings to building façades and apply, joint and texture-finish cement render so that installed profiles integrate seamlessly with the surrounding rendered surfaces.
Tasks and duties
- Attend residential and commercial building sites across the Sydney metropolitan area
- Inspect and measure façades, and set out and mark up window, door and feature lines for moulding installation
- Interpret plans, elevations and architectural specifications, and confirm requirements with the site supervisor or builder
- Assess substrates — rendered, brick, blockwork and blueboard — for level, plumb and adhesion, and prepare or rectify surfaces prior to fixing
- Cut and mitre profiles to length on site, including internal and external mitres and curved and raking work
- Fix bands, architraves, sills, eaves, parapets, quoin panels, pier caps, columns and dentils to exterior walls using adhesives, sealants and mechanical fixings
- Set out and form expansion joints in line with substrate movement and manufacturer requirements
- Mix and apply cement render, patching and jointing compounds by trowel to joins, mitres, terminations and defects, levelling coats to uniform thickness
- Plumb and straighten corners, angles, returns and wall surfaces
- Float, sponge and apply sand-texture finishing coats to blend installed mouldings into surrounding rendered walls
- Create decorative textures in finishing coats and match existing or heritage profiles on restoration work
- Repair, patch and restore damaged rendered mouldings and façade detailing on existing buildings
- Estimate and order material quantities, and check delivered materials against specification
- Erect and work safely from trestles, scaffolding and elevated work platforms, complete site risk assessments and work to SWMS
- Apply render coatings and finishes to profiles in our Girraween workshop between site works as required
- Maintain tools and equipment, and clean up work areas on completion
Skills required
- Practical solid plastering and rendering skills — mixing, trowel application, levelling, floating, sponging and texture matching to an exterior finish standard
- Ability to read and interpret plans, elevations and specifications, and to set out accurately from them
- Accurate measurement, calculation and estimating for cutting, mitring and material quantities
- Sound work health and safety practice, including hazard identification, working at heights and safe use of hand and power tools
- Clear communication and teamwork with builders, site supervisors, colleagues and homeowners on active construction sites
