We are seeking an experienced and reliable Painter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will have strong practical painting skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to deliver quality finishes across a range of residential, commercial, multi-residential, and industrial projects.
The Painter will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints and coatings, completing finishing works, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The ideal candidate takes pride in their workmanship, works efficiently as part of a team, and understands the importance of meeting project deadlines and maintaining professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, patching, and priming.
- Apply paints, primers, sealers, stains, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Complete internal and external painting works to a high standard.
- Carry out cutting-in, rolling, spraying, and detailed finishing work.
- Repair minor surface imperfections before applying finishes.
- Prepare and apply coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, frames, trims, and other surfaces.
- Complete painting works across apartments, townhouses, commercial buildings, offices, warehouses, and other construction projects.
- Read and follow project specifications, instructions, colour schedules, and work requirements.
- Ensure finished surfaces are smooth, even, clean, and free from visible defects.
- Protect floors, fixtures, windows, furniture, and surrounding areas from paint and damage.
- Correct defects and carry out touch-up work when required.
- Safely operate and maintain painting equipment, tools, and machinery.
- Keep work areas, equipment, and materials clean and organised.
- Work closely with supervisors, tradespeople, builders, and other site personnel.
- Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Follow all site safety procedures, SWMS, PPE requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Report hazards, defects, damaged equipment, or other site issues to the supervisor.
- Maintain a professional attitude and contribute positively to the overall project team.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Painter in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of painting preparation and application techniques.
- Experience with residential, commercial, multi-residential, or industrial painting projects.
- Ability to achieve high-quality finishes with minimal supervision.
- Competent with brushes, rollers, spray equipment, sanding equipment, and other painting tools.
- Good understanding of different paint types, coatings, primers, sealers, and surface preparation requirements.
- Ability to accurately follow specifications, instructions, and project requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Good time management and ability to work to project deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger construction team.
- Physically capable of working on construction sites and performing repetitive painting tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of work.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Desirable Qualifications & Licences
- Relevant painting qualification or trade certificate.
- Construction White Card.
- Working at Heights certification.
- EWP or scissor lift licence/ticket.
- Spray painting experience.
- Current driver's licence.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
Pay: $58,062.59 – $99,768.19 per year
