Summary/Objective
The Energy Analyst – Markets & Sustainability is a key role within STACK’s Power & Energy team, responsible for energy accounting, consumption forecasting, utility cost validation and administration of STACK’s electricity supply and renewable energy arrangements across its Australian portfolio.
The role will establish and maintain accurate visibility of energy consumption, cost and forecast demand across STACK’s data centres, providing the data and analysis required to support energy procurement, budgeting, sustainability reporting and business decision-making.
The Energy Analyst will also manage day-to-day interfaces with electricity retailers, Metering Service Providers and DNSPs, administer energy contracts and renewable energy certificate requirements, and support the implementation and ongoing management of STACK’s energy accounting systems.
This role will work closely with Power & Energy, Finance, Operations and other relevant stakeholders to ensure energy data, costs and forecasts are accurate, transparent and effectively managed.
Energy Accounting, Forecasting & Analytics
Manage energy forecasting across STACK’s Australian data centre portfolio, including validation of electricity invoices against metering data, contracted rates, network tariffs and applicable charges.
Investigate billing and consumption discrepancies and coordinate resolution with retailers, Metering Service Providers, DNSPs and internal stakeholders.
Develop and maintain short-, medium- and long-term electricity consumption forecasts, incorporating actual and forecast data centre load growth.
Track actual energy consumption and cost against forecast, identify material variances and provide supporting analysis.
Develop and maintain dashboards covering energy consumption, cost, forecasts and other relevant energy metrics.
Support Finance with energy accruals, budgeting, reconciliations and energy-related financial reporting.
Energy Markets, Contracts & Stakeholder Administration
Support administration of electricity retail contracts, PPAs, metering arrangements and other energy-related agreements.
Maintain a central register of energy contracts, key dates, pricing arrangements, obligations and renewal requirements.
Manage day-to-day interfaces with electricity retailers, Metering Service Providers and DNSPs relating to billing, metering, consumption data and account administration.
Coordinate LGC and other renewable energy certificate surrender requirements, including tracking, reconciliation and supporting evidence.
Support electricity procurement activities, retailer engagements, contract renewals and commercial evaluations.
Analyse consumption profiles, tariffs and energy costs to support procurement and portfolio decisions.
Energy Systems, Sustainability Reporting & Business Support
Support selection, implementation and ongoing administration of STACK’s energy accounting and energy management software, including integration of retailer, metering and internal energy data.
Maintain appropriate data-quality, validation and reconciliation processes across energy systems and reporting.
Provide accurate energy consumption, renewable energy and supporting data inputs into NABERS, NGER, renewable energy indices and other applicable sustainability and regulatory reporting.
Support establishment of energy accounting, metering and reporting processes for new and expanding data centre sites.
Identify opportunities to automate and improve energy data collection, invoice validation, forecasting and reporting.
Provide ad hoc energy analysis and administrative support as STACK’s energy procurement, sustainability and portfolio requirements continue to evolve.

Travel Required
Travel within Australia and, from time to time, internationally to support STACK projects, stakeholder meetings, technical reviews, workshops and commissioning activities.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Energy or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
3–5 years’ relevant experience in energy, utilities, energy accounting, commercial analysis, finance or a related field.
Experience working with electricity invoices, utility accounts, energy data or metering information.
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation or management reporting.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience analysing large datasets.
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage recurring analytical and administrative processes.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience within the Australian electricity market.
Experience with large commercial and industrial electricity customers.
Experience working with electricity retailers, Metering Service Providers and/or DNSPs.
Understanding of NEM metering and electricity settlement data.
Experience with energy accounting or energy management software.
Experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools.
Understanding of LGCs, renewable energy certificates and renewable electricity procurement.
Exposure to electricity retail contracts, PPAs or energy procurement.
Familiarity with NABERS, NGER and renewable energy / sustainability reporting frameworks.
Data centre or other large energy-user experience would be highly regarded experience with 132 kV, 220 kV, 275 kV, 330 kV or higher-voltage systems.
Experience with Australian TNSPs/DNSPs and contestable assets.
Experience with hyperscale data centres or large industrial loads.
Experience with BESS and renewable-energy infrastructure.
