The People & Culture Business Partner serves as a trusted advisor to leaders across the Melbourne Distribution Centre, partnering closely with the business to drive organisational performance through the delivery of strategic and operational people initiatives. The role influences business outcomes by aligning people strategies with operational priorities, building leadership capability, enhancing employee engagement, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive and compliant workplace culture.
Reporting to the Senior People & Culture Manager ANZ this role acts as the primary People & Culture Business Partner for the Distribution Centre. This role provides expert guidance across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, organisational effectiveness, talent management, employee and industrial relations, change management, leadership coaching and performance optimisation. Operating in a complex and fast-paced environment, the role balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution to deliver sustainable people and business outcomes and employee experience.
a day in the life
- Lead the implementation, governance and continuous improvement of people policies, frameworks and processes, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, enterprise agreements, company policies and regulatory requirements, while proactively identifying, managing and mitigating people-related risk.
- Act as the lead P&C Business Partner for industrial and employee relations matters, working in close partnership with OHE to develop and maintain constructive union and employee representative relationships. Lead consultations, Enterprise Agreement interpretation and negotiations, dispute resolution and grievance management, balancing compliance, employee experience and business outcomes.
- Partner with the Health & Safety Manager and Asset Protection teams to oversee injury management, workers’ compensation, workplace adjustments and return-to-work programs, ensuring effective case management, compliance and sustainable employee outcomes.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of PACE people programs, including performance and talent reviews, succession planning, promotions, remuneration and incentive processes, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy, workforce needs and talent priorities.
- Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives, including the employee pulse survey cycle, leveraging insights and data to develop targeted action plans, influence leadership accountability and improve engagement outcomes across the site.
- Working closely with our Learning and Leadership team to develop training initiatives that strengthen leadership effectiveness, enhance people leadership capability and support business performance.
- Utilise workforce metrics, people analytics and business insights to identify trends, inform workforce decisions and drive improvements in organisational effectiveness, employee experience, retention and operational performance.
- Advise on and support with complex organisational change, workforce planning and organisational design initiatives, providing strategic guidance, stakeholder management and risk mitigation to ensure successful implementation and sustainable business outcomes.
qualifications
- Qualification in Human Resource Management.
- 8+ years’ experience in a similar position.
- Good organizational and conflict management skills.
- Problem solving skills with the ability to multitask
- Expert in P+C functions and best practices.
- Strong IR experience dealing with unions.
- Enterprise agreement experience
- Understanding of Labor Law and employment regulations.
- Experience managing employee records (HRIS)
- Personal responsibility to see issues through to resolution and meticulous attention to detail.

work arrangement
In-person collaboration and/or office-based work is necessary or important for the role. Work is mainly performed onsite, 4-5 days per week depending on role requirements.
