About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Glazier with a “can do” attitude to undertake workshop and on-site glazing work. The role involves measuring, preparing, fitting and installing glass and mirror products at customer and construction sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Measure openings and determine the type, dimensions and specifications of glass and mirrors required.
- Read and interpret plans, site measurements, work orders and installation instructions.
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, trim and finish glass and mirrors as required.
- Inspect glass and mirrors for defects and dimensional accuracy before installation.
- Assemble and install semi-framed, semi-frameless and frameless shower screens.
- Fit and install made-to-measure glass splashbacks, custom mirrors, and glass and mirrored wardrobe doors.
- Install frames, channels, hinges, brackets, handles, seals and associated glazing hardware.
- Position, align, level and securely fix glass and mirrors using silicone, glazing compounds, sealants and appropriate fasteners.
- Remove and replace damaged glass, mirrors and associated hardware.
- Safely load, transport, handle and install glass using suitable tools, lifting equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Inspect completed installations to ensure quality, safety and glazing requirements are met.
- Keep tools, equipment and the company vehicle clean and in good working order, report maintenance requirements and comply with workplace health and safety procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- a minimum of Certificate III in Glass and Glazing or an equivalent overseas qualification;
- a minimum of one year’s full-time experience as a Glazier in commercial and/or residential settings;
- strong measurement skills and the ability to interpret plans and work orders;
- sound knowledge of safe glass-handling and glazing installation practices;
- the ability to safely use glazing tools, hand tools and power tools;
- a current driver’s licence; and
- good attention to detail, communication and time-management skills.
