About the role
As the Clinical Nurse Educator at Cherry Creek, you will play a key role in fostering a strong learning culture and supporting clinical excellence. You’ll lead the development and delivery of education programs, create high-quality training resources, and provide learning opportunities for clinicians across the service.
You will facilitate onboarding and training for new staff and work closely with the Clinical Education & Training team and the Health Service Manager to maintain high standards of nursing and clinical care aligned with current evidence-based practice.
With a collaborative, team-focused approach, you will help design, facilitate, and evaluate education programs using a consistent, standardised education model. This role champions a vibrant, positive learning environment that supports professional growth across Cherry Creek and Barwon Health.

As the Clinical Nurse Educator at Cherry Creek, you will play a key role in fostering a strong learning culture and supporting clinical excellence within a unique and dynamic healthcare environment.
You will lead the development, delivery and evaluation of education and training programs, while creating high-quality learning resources and professional development opportunities for clinicians across the service. You’ll also facilitate onboarding and training for new staff, supporting them to develop the skills and confidence needed to provide safe, high-quality care.
Working closely with the Manager Clinical Education and Training, Health Service Manager and the wider Clinical Education and Training team, you will promote contemporary, evidence-based nursing practice and support a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop, facilitate and evaluate education and training programs for clinical staff
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs to support new staff joining Cherry Creek
- Develop and maintain contemporary learning resources, modules and competency-based assessment tools
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice, clinical guidelines and continuous quality improvement
- Support clinicians to develop and maintain clinical competencies and professional standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders to identify education and practice development needs
- Support compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and other relevant regulatory requirements
What we're looking for
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, with a postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing.
- Extensive acute clinical experience in Emergency Nursing, with recent Emergency Department and/or custodial environment experience.
- A Masters qualification in health or education, or equivalent, or currently working towards one.
- Experience delivering education and training, with knowledge of adult learning principles and competency-based assessment.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, collaboratively and lead change.
About Cherry Creek
Barwon Health is partnering with the Department of Justice and Community Safety to provide healthcare services at the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. Cherry Creek is a 140-bed Youth Justice Facility located west of Werribee, supporting young males aged 15–17 years who are on remand or sentenced.
The purpose-built health service provides a broad range of care including emergency response, primary care, mental health, alcohol and other drug services, allied health, general practice and specialist medical care. With 24/7 nursing coverage and a seven-day-a-week primary care clinic, the team delivers integrated healthcare within this unique custodial environment.
