Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality & Governance Business Partner to join our team and support SCCQ to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred services by partnering with operational leaders and service teams to strengthen quality, clinical governance, compliance and continuous improvement across residential aged care (RAC), home care, retirement living and disability services (in RAC).

About the role
Reporting to the Chief Governance Risk & Research, as the Quality & Governance Business Partner, you will be providing practical guidance, assurance and data-informed insights to support regulatory readiness, accreditation, internal audit, incident and feedback management, quality indicator monitoring, policy review and risk identification, ensuring services meet legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, you will be promoting a culture of accountability, learning and improvement, translating performance trends, audit outcomes and consumer feedback into meaningful actions that enhance customer experience, service quality and outcomes.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
- Partnering with operational leaders and service teams to strengthen quality, clinical governance, compliance and continuous improvement practices across SCCQ services.
- Maintaining and supporting governance systems that enable effective monitoring, reporting and improvement of service quality, customer experience and care outcomes.
- Coordinating and preparing quality and governance reporting to provide clear insights, trends and recommendations to the Chief Governance, Risk & Research.
- Supporting service readiness for registration, accreditation, external reviews and regulatory assessments, including coordination of evidence collection, validation and audit preparation processes such as Audit Evidence Collection Tool (AECT) and Care Delivery Evidence Collection Tool (CDECT).
- Monitoring and supporting compliance with relevant legislative, regulatory and standards requirements, including the Aged Care Act, Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Practice Standards, Retirement Village requirements and SCCQ policies.
- Leading and facilitating internal audits, risk assessments and performance evaluations to identify areas for improvement and support implementation of corrective action plans.
- Coordinating responses to recommendations arising from registration and accreditation audits, internal reviews, feedback, external complaints and regulatory engagement.
- Monitoring improvement plans to ensure actions are completed, evidence is maintained and effectiveness is evaluated.
- Supporting implementation and ongoing maturity of SCCQ’s risk management framework, including identification, analysis and escalation of emerging quality, safety and compliance risks.
- Overseeing and supporting effective use of incident management, reportable incident and feedback systems, ensuring timely review, investigation support, learning and prevention strategies.
- Analysing incidents, complaints, compliments, customer and carer feedback to identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve service quality and customer experience.
- Developing, maintaining and using reporting tools, including Power BI where relevant, to support transparent monitoring of quality, risk, compliance and customer outcome measures.
- Undertaking end-of-month analysis of incidents, feedback and PCI data to identify gaps, emerging trends, risks and opportunities for targeted improvement.
- Maintaining the integrity of the Quality Management System through effective document control, review, approval and version management of policies, procedures, guidelines, assessments and audit tools.
- Coaching and supporting service leaders and workers to understand quality and governance requirements, interpret performance data, use governance systems and implement sustainable improvement actions.
- Providing training and practical support to enable effective use of governance, quality and clinical management platforms.
- Promoting quality and governance practices that uphold customer rights, dignity, choice, dignity of risk, supported decision-making, cultural safety and person-centred care.
What will you bring to the role?
- Current AHPRA registration (Registered Nurse or Allied Health practitioner) highly desirable or extensive experience in a similar governance role.
- Significant experience in leading a quality improvement program.
- Demonstrated understanding of quality management principles and practices with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
- Ability to assist and monitor the quality performance of all services and the capacity to suggest strategies to improve with guidance to promote positive change in a sustainable way.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and relate to all levels of management, employees, volunteers and customers on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary theory and practice within the Aged Care sector, including knowledge of current legislative requirements and Standards of the Aged Care Industry.
- Ability to travel between SCCQ sites across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria as required.
