Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team supporting the Hunter Program at Osborne Naval Shipyard, South Australia.
In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, maintenance, and support of software that are critical to program success. Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to the ongoing reliability, performance, and enhancement of software solutions while partnering closely with internal teams and customer stakeholders.
Core Duties:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software applications and services.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of microservices-based architectures using modern containerisation technologies.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable code using JavaScript, Node.js, and related technologies.
- Design and implement secure APIs, authentication mechanisms, and role-based access controls.
- Contribute to software architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Support build, release, and deployment processes across development and production environments.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues, ensuring system stability and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide ongoing production support and contribute to system enhancements and optimisation activities.
- Ensure software solutions comply with relevant quality, security, and engineering standards.
About YOU
- Experience in software engineering, including the design, development, and support of enterprise applications.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js with demonstrated experience in containerisation technologies, including Docker and/or Podman, within microservices environments.
- Strong software design and architecture experience, with the ability to develop scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs, authentication services, and role-based access controls.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL (preferred) or similar database technologies.
- Experience developing custom web applications and user-focused software solutions.
- Proven experience with build and release management, CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production support.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
