Childcare Centre Chef / Cook
Willow Tree Early Learning Centre is seeking a passionate and experienced Centre Chef / Cook to join our warm and supportive team.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating fresh, nutritious and delicious meals for young children while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation.
About the Role
As our Centre Chef, you will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and development of the children in our care. You will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious, balanced meals and snacks while catering to individual dietary requirements, allergies and cultural needs.
You will work closely with the Centre Director, educators and families to ensure children receive high-quality meals in a safe and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious and balanced meals and snacks for children
- Develop menus that meet Australian dietary guidelines and the nutritional needs of young children
- Cater for children with allergies, intolerances and specific dietary requirements
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Ensure the kitchen is maintained in accordance with food safety regulations
- Manage food ordering, stock control and kitchen budgets
- Maintain accurate records relating to food temperatures, cleaning and food safety
- Ensure safe food storage and preparation practices at all times
- Minimise food waste and manage kitchen supplies effectively
- Work collaboratively with the Centre Director and educators
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming centre environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a chef or cook, preferably within a childcare, school, aged care or similar environment
- A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or relevant qualification is desirable
- A current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergy management
- A strong understanding of healthy eating and nutrition for young children
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and manage a busy kitchen
- A positive and friendly attitude
- A genuine passion for supporting the health and wellbeing of children
- A current Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications are desirable
