Job Summary
The Business Analyst is responsible for analysing business processes, identifying requirements and improvement opportunities, and translating business needs into practical solutions. The role works closely with stakeholders, project teams, developers, and management to support effective decision-making and successful delivery of business and technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyse, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, meetings, and requirements-gathering sessions.
- Analyse existing business processes and identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop business requirements documents (BRDs), functional requirements, process maps, user stories, and use cases.
- Translate business requirements into clear and actionable specifications for technical teams.
- Collaborate with project managers, developers, testers, product teams, and business stakeholders.
- Analyse data and prepare reports to support business decisions.
- Develop process flows, workflow diagrams, and business models.
- Identify gaps between current and desired business processes.
- Evaluate proposed solutions and assess their impact on business operations.
- Support system implementation, testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and deployment.
- Develop and execute UAT scenarios and assist stakeholders during testing.
- Monitor project requirements and ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives.
- Identify and manage requirements-related risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Prepare presentations and reports for management and project stakeholders.
- Support change-management and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate requirements, process, and project documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
- Strong knowledge of business process analysis and requirements management.
- Experience gathering and documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience creating process maps, workflow diagrams, and business documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and business analysis tools.
- Experience with project management or collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall project environments.
- Knowledge of business analysis frameworks and methodologies.
- Familiarity with SQL, data analysis, Power BI, or other reporting tools.
- Experience with ERP, CRM, SaaS, or enterprise software implementations.
- Professional certification such as IIBA CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or equivalent.
- Experience working with Australian businesses, government, or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of Australian privacy, compliance, and data-protection requirements.
- Australian work rights or an appropriate Australian work visa.
