We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the financial department at Northfleet. This is a leadership role responsible for financial management, reporting, compliance, budgeting, cash flow oversight, and supporting strategic business decision-making.
Working closely with the CFO and operational leaders, you will play a critical role in driving financial performance, strengthening controls, and providing valuable insights that contribute to the continued success and growth of the business.
As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the division's financial reporting processes and oversee the day-to-day finance function. You will lead and mentor a dedicated finance and administration team while ensuring the delivery of accurate financial information and compliance with all statutory obligations.
Responsibilities:

Lead, support and develop the finance team to ensure the effective delivery of all finance functions.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, annual and management financial reports.
- Deliver insightful financial analysis, commentary and variance reporting to support strategic and operational decision making.
- Manage cash flow and treasury functions, including daily cash flow forecasting.
- Oversee equipment finance and leasing reporting.
- Manage month-end close processes and reporting timetables.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes and support managers in developing financial capability.
- Review general ledger reconciliations and ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Coordinate year-end financial reporting, audit preparation and statutory accounts.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for tax and compliance requirements.
- Review and authorise payroll finalisation reporting.
- Assist with insurance and risk management activities.
- Oversee compliance obligations, including: BAS/GST, PAYG, Payroll, Tax, Fuel, Excise, Superannuation.
- Support operational managers with financial and commercial advice.
- Manage vehicle fleet financing arrangements, including TFM and DAMLA.
- Act as the ERP system champion and support ongoing finance system improvements.
- Oversee supplier terms and conditions reviews.
- Manage divisional audit processes.
- Support project cost accounting activities.
- Manage and maintain the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR).
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will be a hands-on finance leader with strong commercial acumen, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
Qualifications:

Professional accounting qualification affiliation CA/ CPA
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting or Business.
- At least three years’ experience in a Senior Financial Management role.
- Exposure to the transport, hire/leasing and/or mining Industries is advantageous.
Skills and Attributes:

Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems (Odoo experience highly desirable).
- Strong contract and stakeholder management experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capability.
- Ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to delivering high levels of internal and external customer service.
