Position Summary
Software engineer (Cybersecurity)
The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, testing and maintaining security solutions that protect the organisation's software applications, systems, networks and data from cyber threats. The role works closely with software development, infrastructure and product teams to integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), identify and mitigate security risks, and ensure applications and systems comply with organisational security standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement and maintain cybersecurity solutions to protect software applications, systems, networks and cloud environments.
- Perform security assessments, vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of applications and systems, and implement appropriate remediation measures.
- Design and integrate security controls into software and application development throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including secure coding practices and DevSecOps processes.
- Monitor, analyse and respond to cybersecurity events, security alerts and incidents, and conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with software engineers, application developers and infrastructure teams to identify security requirements and implement secure application architectures.
- Conduct application security reviews, source code reviews and security testing to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities before deployment.
- Configure, manage and maintain cybersecurity technologies including firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM platforms, identity and access management (IAM), vulnerability management and cloud security solutions.
- Develop and maintain security automation, scripts and tools to improve security monitoring, incident response and application security processes.
- Prepare and maintain cybersecurity documentation, security policies, technical standards, incident reports and risk assessments.
- Ensure software applications, systems and security controls comply with organisational policies, regulatory requirements and recognised cybersecurity standards and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- At least one year plus relevant experience in cybersecurity engineering, application security, software security or information security.
- Experience securing software applications and implementing application security controls within software development environments.
- Experience with secure software development practices, application security testing, vulnerability management and DevSecOps methodologies.
- Knowledge of operating systems, network security, cloud security (AWS and/or Azure), encryption technologies, authentication protocols and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Experience with cybersecurity technologies including SIEM, endpoint detection and response (EDR), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), identity and access management (IAM) and vulnerability scanning tools.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Java, C#, JavaScript or Bash to support security automation and application security.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Fluent in both English & Mandarin is essential

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
