Mainstreet Café is a retail business operating in regional Victoria, selling milk, bread, baked goods and associated retail food items directly to the public. The business operates from a physical premises and services the local community through counter sales and retail transactions.
Due to the size and scope of the business, Mainstreet Café requires a dedicated Retail Manager to oversee daily retail operations, staff supervision, inventory control, supplier coordination and financial performance.
At least 3 years of experience in a retail management position is required for this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Retail Manager is responsible for managing the establishment’s retail operations, including:
- Planning, organising and controlling the day‑to‑day retail operations of the café
- Managing staff rosters, recruitment, training and supervision of retail and café staff
- Monitoring sales performance, customer demand and pricing of retail food items including milk, bread and baked goods
- Ordering stock, managing inventory levels and liaising with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and regulatory requirements
- Handling customer service issues and maintaining service standards
- Preparing budgets, monitoring costs, controlling wastage and reviewing profit margins
- Implementing promotional activities and pricing strategies appropriate to a regional retail environment
- Maintaining records relating to sales, staff, stock and operational performance
- Reporting to the business owner on operational outcomes and business performance
The role is managerial in nature and involves strategic oversight and control of the retail business, rather than routine food preparation or counter service.
Pay: $79,000.00 – $89,000.00 per year
