Job Description
Join the Health Information Services team at John Flynn Private Hospital as a Part-Time Health Information Services Clerk.
In this role, you will provide accurate and efficient administrative support in the management of patient medical records and health information. You will be responsible for locating, retrieving, processing, tracking and maintaining medical records while ensuring information is handled with a high level of accuracy, confidentiality and privacy.
Working closely with clinical and administrative teams, you will contribute to the efficient management of health information and support quality improvement activities within the department.

You are an organised and detail-oriented individual with strong administrative skills and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
You are comfortable working with computer systems and managing information and documentation in a busy environment. You have excellent communication skills, a professional approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities

Compile and process medical records for discharged patients as required.

Seek, locate and retrieve medical records for patients, clinical needs, quality activities and other authorised requests.

Accurately track medical records in and out of the department.

Answer and action internal and external customer enquiries in a polite, timely and efficient manner.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality and privacy when handling patient information.

Follow up outstanding medical record deficiencies, including discharge summaries and pathology results.

Perform discharge procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
-
Perform efficient scanning and filing of appropriate medical documentation.
-
Assist with the culling, archiving and secure storage of medical records in a timely and methodical manner.

Maintain the hospital's archive register as required.

Maintain the Medical Records Forms Register.

Supply medical record forms to hospital departments as requested.
-
Assist with quality improvement activities within the Health Information Services department.

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with departmental requirements.

Comply with all relevant hospital and departmental policies, procedures and privacy requirements.

Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to support the efficient management of health information.
You Will Also Bring

Previous administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment.

Experience working with medical records or health information is highly regarded.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Excellent organisational and time management skills.
