About the Role
The Criterion Motel is seeking an experienced and motivated Motel Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the hotel and ensure the delivery of high-quality guest services. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating hotel operations, supervising staff, managing customer service standards, and supporting the hotel's financial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the overall day-to-day operations of the motel to ensure efficient and profitable performance.
- Planning, coordinating and supervising front office, accommodation, food and beverage and general motel operations.
- Managing staff rosters, allocating duties and coordinating daily staffing requirements.
- Supervising, training and supporting motel employees to maintain high standards of service.
- Monitoring guest arrivals, departures, bookings, reservations and accommodation requirements.
- Ensuring guests receive professional, efficient and courteous service throughout their stay.
- Handling guest enquiries, feedback, complaints and service issues and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Maintaining and improving hotel service standards, operational procedures and customer service practices.
- Monitoring occupancy, room availability and booking performance.
- Coordinating housekeeping and maintenance activities to ensure rooms and facilities are maintained to an appropriate standard.
- Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and coordinating inventory requirements.
- Assisting with budgeting, revenue management, cost control and financial reporting.
- Monitoring daily sales, cash handling, payments and other financial transactions.
- Maintaining accurate operational and administrative records and preparing management reports.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety, food safety, liquor licensing and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors and external service providers as required.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve guest satisfaction, occupancy and overall hotel performance.
- Promoting a positive workplace culture and maintaining effective communication among hotel departments.
- Resolving operational issues promptly and ensuring continuity of hotel services.
- Representing the hotel professionally when dealing with guests, suppliers, business partners and other stakeholders.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated experience in motel management or a senior hospitality management position.
- Strong leadership and staff supervision capabilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Experience managing hotel operations in a busy hospitality environment.
- Sound understanding of accommodation, front office and general hotel operations.
- Ability to manage budgets, expenses, stock and operational resources.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Professional presentation and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse hospitality team.
- Flexibility to work across weekends, public holidays and varying operational hours when required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Business Management or a related discipline.
- Experience with hotel property management and reservation systems.
- Knowledge of revenue management and hotel performance indicators.
- Understanding of Australian hospitality industry practices and regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience managing accommodation, food and beverage or licensed hotel operations.
