What you'll be doing
Be seen as an individual, not a number. Join a vibrant and supportive hospital team in one of NSW’s fastest-growing, beachside communities.
At Port Macquarie Base Hospital, you'll be part of a close-knit, collegial environment where teamwork, mentorship, and professional development are more than just buzzwords—they’re a way of life. As a key facility in the Mid North Coast Local Health District, the hospital offers extensive training opportunities across a wide variety of medical, surgical, and specialty terms. JMOs benefit from personalised support, protected teaching time, and access to research and leadership development. Plus, with free parking, minimal traffic, and a stunning natural setting of beaches and bushland, your work-life balance has never looked better.
The primary purpose of the position is to manage patients requiring intensive care, those at risk of clinical deterioration requiring intensive care, plus pre- and post-intensive care evaluation.
Critically ill patients include patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit. Intensive Care Trainees work under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat the disturbances associated with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them. This may include management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients.
