An exciting opportunity exists to join the Sexual Health Department at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) as an Advanced Trainee in Sexual Health Medicine, supported by the RACP Specialist Training Program (STP).
Where you'll be working
The primary site of work is Warrawong Public Health Unit, with additional clinical sessions delivered across other ISLHD sites including Wollongong, Port Kembla and Shoalhaven.
Located approximately one hour south of Sydney, the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions offer an exceptional coastal lifestyle with access to beaches, national parks and regional destinations such as Jervis Bay, Kangaroo Valley and Berry.
What you'll be doing
Illawarra Sexual Health Services provides training for RACP Advanced Trainees in Sexual Health Medicine. The program includes clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, HIV and viral hepatitis; reproductive health including contraception and medical termination of pregnancy; gender affirming care and genital dermatology. The position is supported by the RACP Specialist Training Program (STP).
You will work in a supportive multidisciplinary team and attend clinics across multiple sites. There are opportunities for teaching and research, with close liaison with Public Health and Infectious Diseases. There is no inpatient responsibility, however you will provide specialist advice to hospital‑ and community‑based clinicians.
This position is suitable for doctors undertaking Advanced Training in Sexual Health Medicine, including those commencing training or nearing completion who require targeted experience in areas such as HIV, reproductive health, genital dermatology or gender‑affirming care.
This position is supported through the RACP Specialist Training Program (STP), which provides funding for professional development, regional training support, relocation assistance and infrastructure.
