Trade Manager at Sydney Zoo

The Position
This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting team at Sydney zoo in the role of our Trade Manager, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible.
The Trade Manager is responsible for assisting to drive commercial growth through trade, group sales and tourism partnerships while overseeing the effective operation of reservations, group bookings and visitor planning functions.
Acting as the primary liaison between the Group Sales Teams, Operations and Visitor Experience teams, the role ensures seamless delivery of group experiences, trade partnerships, inbound tourism programs, education and corporate visitation. The position combines commercial leadership, trade relationship management, pricing and contract oversight with operational responsibility for reservations, group coordination, customer service delivery and
team leadership.
The role also deals with reactive sales enquiries that come directly to Sydney Zoo, including but not limited to groups visits, event enquiries and local related partners such as hotels.
Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience
ESSENTIAL
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Tourism, Hospitality or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in tourism, reservations, trade sales, group operations or related commercial roles.
- Demonstrated experience working across business units and interdepartmentally at various levels and across various touchpoints.
- Strong understanding of inbound tourism, group travel and trade distribution channels.
- Experience in managing stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with some experience in pricing, forecasting and revenue
management.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination abilities.
- Experience using reservations, ticketing or booking management systems.
- Strong reporting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- High level of computer literacy including CRM, booking systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated understanding of Workplace Health and Safety responsibilities.
- Paid Working with Children's Check.
DESIRABLE
- Experience working with international tourism markets.
- Additional language skills and multicultural awareness.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Experience with Rezdy or similar booking platforms.
