Are you a junior lawyer looking to build a strong foundation in insurance law, with the support of experienced practitioners and exposure to interesting, varied work?
Jackson McDonald’s Insurance Practice is seeking a lawyer with approximately 1–4 years’ post-admission experience to join our collaborative and highly regarded team.
You’ll work alongside Alex Lustig, Fiona Dempster and Erica Thuijs on a broad range of insurance matters, with the opportunity to develop your technical skills, judgment and client focussed services in a supportive team environment.
Ready for a career in a dynamic area of law?
Insurance law is a practical, people-focused and intellectually engaging area of practice. It offers the chance to work across issues involving liability, risk, causation, evidence, damages and dispute resolution — making it a natural fit for lawyers who enjoy torts, problem-solving and understanding how legal principles apply to real-world events.
In this role, you’ll learn from experienced insurance lawyers while developing your own style and confidence. You may be exposed to workers compensation, public liability and motor vehicle claims from the perspective of the defendant, along with advisory work and litigation, with opportunities to assist on matters from early advice through to resolution, which can mean supporting senior lawyers through to conciliation and arbitration or trial.
Whether your experience has been plaintiff, defendant or more general litigation-based, what matters most is your interest in insurance work, your willingness to learn and work as a part of a dynamic and collaborative team and your commitment to delivering thoughtful, high-quality legal support.
You’ll be part of an energetic, fun and dynamic team that values authenticity and uniqueness — a team that takes its work seriously, but not itself too seriously.
You can expect mentoring, meaningful supervision and direct partner access in an open-plan team environment, where day-to-day learning happens through discussion, collaboration and the support of experienced lawyers around you.
