Commencing Term 4, 2026 or earlier by negotiation
Salary: $74,904–$80,423 per annum pro rata for 0.4–0.5 FTE, plus superannuation.
A role that follows the rhythm of the school year: term-time position with school holidays free. Salary is annualised and paid throughout the year.
Perth Montessori School is seeking an experienced and highly relational professional for the role of Student Wellbeing Officer.
The role is focused on pastoral care, early intervention and building students’ social and emotional capacity. We are looking for someone who works in a respectful, strengths-based and neuroaffirming way and who can build genuine, trusted relationships with young people.
Key responsibilities include:

providing accessible wellbeing and pastoral care support
- supporting students with social, emotional, relational and school-engagement challenges
- delivering small-group early intervention and capacity-building programs, including social skills, resilience and relationships
- facilitating lunchtime activities, clubs and opportunities that strengthen belonging and connection
- identifying emerging concerns and supporting appropriate referral where required
- working collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals
- contributing to whole-school wellbeing initiatives
- maintaining appropriate records, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
This is not a clinical counselling or psychological services role.
We are seeking someone who:

has strong experience working with children and adolescents
- understands child and adolescent development, mental health and wellbeing
- has experience supporting neurodivergent students using neuroaffirming practice
- is confident facilitating small groups and wellbeing programs
- demonstrates sound judgement, discretion and strong professional boundaries
- works collaboratively and understands appropriate referral pathways.
A relevant tertiary qualification is strongly preferred, particularly in social work, psychology, counselling, youth work, education, community services or a related field.
However at least a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Pastoral Care, or Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care, or an equivalent qualification is essential.
Applicants must also hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Working with Children Check and satisfy the School’s child-safety and employment screening requirements.
